Web Site Design
Re-design of Cancer.com

Wireframe for Cancer.com
My Role:
- - As the Information Architect on the team, I was responsible for carving out the structure of the web site. The client had a bank of content that they wanted to use; in addition, they had a set of business objectives that the new web site must address.
- - Created several iterations of sitemaps & wireframes in Visio. Also developed a set of user personas to help guide the design.
Challenges:
- - There was not much information available about how cancer patients & their caregivers, the two prime audiences for the web site, actually sought information online.
- - What would be the most useful way to organize information: by cancer type, by timeline i.e where the patient was in the cancer lifecycle. For the initial iterations of the design, I chose to go with a hybrid approach: audience type, & within that, by lifecycle of the disease.
Actions:
- - Clutter-free yet informative pages.
- - Simple navigation, with ample cross-linking.
